There is a list of improvements?
If not, then I'm sure not to update my mini 0806 .
I now know what I have and not what I 'm going to get after this update.
So, so please publish the list of enhancements.

Here's what I have found so far:
All half hour timezone offsets are missing (e.g. +9.5 timezone has been removed).
Parking guard is in back.
Startup sound can now be switched off.
HDR video is *still* upside down when rotate image 180 degrees enabled.
There is now a warning sound when card format error occurs.

Frankly I'm about ready to get rid of this piece of junk. It's had many different issues to the point of being useless for it's purpose. Hopefully this firmware update will make the device stable enough to use.

Can someone explain to me how parking guard works? I have tried to test it to no avail. I activate parking guard in the menu (I have tried low, medium, and high). Then I connect sub power to the camera through the mount. The camera turns on and starts recording. While it records I bump it to see if the g-sensor works and I get the little lock pictograms on the display, so I guess the g-sensor works. Then I pull out the sub plug to remove power and the camera shuts down after finishing writing the recording it was busy with. When it's complete shut down I shake the camera, tap it, etc... But nothing happens. I have tried this on the 201503 and the 201601 firmware both same results. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks :)

Thanks for the resounding amount of assistance.

Format MicroSD, place firmware.bin in MicroSD, reboot 0806. Firmware will ask yes/no, use up/down and centre to select. 0806 will restart when complete.

For those who didnt know...

Steve Kurz Also you can reset the cam by pressing the on/off for three minutes.

Sean

Yes you must then remove the firmware.bin file from the SD card after the update otherwise it will continually 'find' the file each time it switches on and prompt an update.

Bought new 806 2 months ago.Keeps displaying low battery regardless how long it has been charged since the beginning and shuts down right away when not powered.i think battery is dead.Since installed in vehicle powered from cigarette lighter I noticed it intermittently did not start when vehicle ignition was turned on:blue light on,red light on but not blinking, keys inoperable, need to reboot from device switch to operate correctly.i just upgraded to new firmware.it is now worse.Systematically does not start:blue light on,red on no blinking and need to reboot.is that issue caused by dead battery or firmware?

It is same with me
I think it doesnot have a battery , it has a capacitor
But practically I think it is ok since I only need it while I am driving
I have seen people doing a separate wiring to remain it on all times (in case you have a need for it)

I have 9 of these - 4 in two cars, one in an RV. Of the dozens of cameras I've tried in the last 12 years or so, this has been the best quality, best performance, best bang for the buck yet. One of my 9 has had a failed battery, which I replaced for US8 (via eBay). It took 10 minutes to change. I have periodic problems with the sd cards get corrupted - but formatting them in the camera solves the problems for weeks/months.

Just because you've had a bad experience does not mean it's junk.

I got my dash cam two weeks ago. It has intermittent shutdown problem after 3-beeping sound. Based on the comments from the last firmware discussion, it seems that it is a common problem. With the hope of resolving the problem, I installed this firmware. For every trip since the firmware updated, my dash cam stopped recording with multiple beeping sound after several minutes of normal recording. I later found that there was an error message of "low speed card" flashing on the screen. I decided to give it a try with a high speed SD card before returning to the seller. I bought a Lexar 32GB 633x 95MB/s card to replace my ADATA 32GB Premier UHS-1 CL10 card yesterday. So far I have no recording issue with the high speed card. I am keeping my finger cross and hoping that the new card actually resolves the problem.

One interesting observation is that my friend has the same model of dash cam and ADATA SD card that I used. He has no problem with the older firmware and very happy with the dash cam. I guess there are some quality issues of the dash cam and some cannot handle the low speed card. If you have recording issue, it may be worth to try a high speed card.

I have mini0806 about 1 year and I can say:

Pros:

- Quality of video is good (not great, but good, above average)
- it works with 128GB micro sd. I have a Hama one.
- Discreet, unobservable, always left her windshield.
- Used to work well in extreme temperatures (-20 C + 40 C)
- Polarizing filter does its job excellently

cons:

- Pins that make contact with GPS support have weakened and do not contact properly, but I solved the problem with filling solder.
- Battery was gone in eight months, but I bought on the internet and I replaced it
- I managed to refocus and now sees something better
- Night shooting is not as expected. Shooting slightly better than a cheap video camera.
- Occasionally enters the error card, but after formatting is back for a few months.
- G-sensor function does not work on any level, but does not bother me very much.

Overall the dashcam is above average, and the price at which I bought was one ok for what it offers.

P.S. I did not notice a change with the new update, only reintroducing parking mode. Let's see if there is a card error beep.

I think a tiny bit of pure silicone as a lubricant on the pins might help you with the contact issue. You might also try buying a non-GPS base and moving your GPS module over to it.

Have you had any issues with the filter falling off when hitting bumps, etc.? My camera is going to be installed in my truck, which is an actual work truck with the ride to match. When you hit a bump or pothole in it, you feel it. I'm concerned at how weak the magnetic bond is between the camera and the filter. If it comes off in my truck I might have trouble finding it, or it stands a good chance of going down the defroster vents, so I'd like to hear if you or anyone else have had problems with it falling off.

I have a 64GB card, only using slot A, settings are switched to A only, however once card is full, i get a solid red light and i have to delete the files. how come it is not just recording over old files? i have loop recording on. any ideas? thanks!

I also have a 64 GB card (loop set to 3 min), and every couple of months I need to connect my Mini0806 unit to a Windows machine and use the "attrib -R *.*" command to remove the Read-Only attribute on a hand full of video files. My guess is the shock sensor is being activated (large pothole or railroad tracks?) and the device is attempting to preserve those files. After I reset the attribute, the system recycles those files normally.

You need to make sure that you put it on loop setting and anything that isn't locked will be recorded over

Ali, if I may.. I had the same problem and what the issue ended up being was a bad card. I had got a 64GB card and tried to format it using the mini 0806 software and you cant, it will corrupt the card. You have to format it on a computer and use FAT32 then put the card back in the camera and boot up.

I still have my freezing issue happening in 50% of the cases and found what is causing it.My Mini806 is powered from cigarette lighter outlet which is powered through ignition switch. The power sequence on this outlet is: on when ignition switch is turned on, off when swith turned to start the engine, then on again once engine is running and switch released. The Mini firmware does not like the on,off, on sequence. It starts booting then freezes. Very poor design.I do not have any problem with a GPS permanenetly connected to similar outlet.

The camera came with a 2015 (I don't remember the date, version number was 1.0) firmware a few weeks ago and it froze quite often becoming non-responsive, I had to wait till it drained the battery and turned off. In desperation I installed this firmware, I haven't had any reliability issues since, so it looks like they fixed a few things.

Other thoughts:
- it is fully compatible with the 0801's mount, so I could just slide it in with zero effort, a big plus in wintertime
- the bug that the HDR picture is not flipped on the display when the "rotate 180°" option is enabled is indeed not fixed (it is not a major issue, I can rotate the video when converting, but it would be an easy fix)
- the camera puts the SD card file system in read-only mode, which is really annoying when you try to clear it for a firmware update, the lock should be removed from the firmware (the attribute can be changed in command line with the diskpart tool, but that's overly circuitous)

Overall, it is a very decent camera for the price.

I solved the case of flash corruption by putting a small timer on the power supply.
That way when I turn off the engine, my mini0806 stays on for 2 or more minutes and then turn off.
This way there are no problems if I turn off and turn on the engine quickly.

Reply
Anthony

It's not corruption, the camera software simply sets the read-only attribute of the SD card's file system.

By the way, the freezing issue still persists, it just occurs less often.

Gabi B

In have the same issues:
Mini0806 from 2016, firmware form 26 May 2016, and it froze - becoming non-responsive; mostly if the Motion Sensor is ON "used often".
I must apply each time the "reset procedure".
I have 2 x 64 GB Samsung SD Cards and activate the loop - 3 min recording mode.

Do you have this issue?

Ian hoping eBay or someone on the community can help. I bought a mini dashcam back in July 2015 . Stupidly I didn't try to fit it to the car until around September and immediately realised there were issues. I joined the forum on the manufacturers website to get firmware upgrades etc and talk to other users of same camera and it became clear very quickly that they have had loads of issues with the camera. I like my tech and I understand there can be teething trouble with new products but the camera has not functioned correctly ever despite firmware upgrades settings changes recommended by manufacture and even a higher class of memory card purchased to try and resolve he issues but it still doesn't work. Now more worryingly the plastic case of the item seems to be melting from inside out if I leave the cam plugged into car which its meant to be able to do as it's also a parking camer. I have no direct issue against the re seller on eBay I suppose but the product was not ever fit for purpose and from the forums no one is having much luck with it.

So what at the buying and returns implications of a defective and possibly dangerous item sold on eBay or anywhere else for that matter. If I leave it plugged into car and it catches fire there could be serious repercussions similar the the recent hover boards incidents. I paid over £80 for camera plus multiple memory cards and car kit so it's cost me £145 so far not to have a dashcam that works.
On plus side the heat from the camera defrosts a spot on my windshield about the size of a football . Handy on frosty mornings. Any advice great appreciated. Like everyone I don't like wasting money and feel that it's a product that should never have been listed as it simply doesn't work

I had the same problems as You. I put other card (2 GB class 6 no-name) and everything works like a charm, on highest resolution and highest quality (superfine). I did some test on SanDisk card and results were disaster. Speed was between class 2 and 4. New SanDisk card, on that test was slightly higher than class 6, but it was enough for this camera. But far away from what should be (class 10). I think, SanDisk is not a good producer for SD cards.

Unzip the firmware onto the MicroSD card. Insert into the dashcam and power on. The dashcam will ask if you want to upgrade. Cross your fingers and select okay.

Once the upgrade is complete you will need to delete the firmware from the MicroSD card otherwise you will get the upgrade prompts whenever the dashcam powers on.

Hopefully you will feel less unhappy after the upgrade.

Goodluck.

I'm having issues with all my microSD cards regardless of size, class or speed. Even after fixing the issue, I keep getting I/O Storage Error, Invalid Card, Low Card Speed at random times. I cannot for the life of me figure out why this camera will not work properly, even the format function fails miserably. My Ojocam works perfectly and recognises my cards without issues and its an 0805 series. About had it with this camera as I need more than 10 hours of video when I'm driving a rig. I work closely with law enforcement and this tool is suppose help curb bad drivers but without it, I simply become a liability to the officers. Getting a different camera from Luka instead which I know works extremely well and does exactly what I need. None of the firmwares work!

Had hope, then got error code10, that flashed and beeped, on both cameras i own. before update at least it would record on both cards and lock up once and awhile. I got a lot of corrupt videos with new update. This need to be fixed. As a consumer i spent over $400 on cameras, cards and hard wire parts. This is unexceptionable. this needs to be a set and forget camera. i should not have to check on it or constantly format cards. Maybe its time for a class action law suite against the maker for defrauding thousands of people into purchasing a piss poor product. Just fix the damn thing.

I am letting we know, that this firmware update is not good. I get the error message on a 128gb sandisk (used h2testw_1.4 to test it is a good SD card and not a rip off)
Low speed Card - the card has only used 72gb.

I am just fed up with this camera.

I have tried everything, it never works and the manufacturer always claims it is my fault or I'm not doing something right or I need to return it to China. I spent £65 buying the camera and then £45 returning various versions. I give up.

I bought a new camera from the UK and so far not one problem. Support has been fantastic and better than this piece of junk. I understand cheap cameras have cheap support but this is a joke. I'll never be buying from China again.

sport mode 1920*1080px (16:9) 45fps
With one SD card works perfectly.
For example, Samsung Evo 32 gigabytes or similar
The minimum requirement for a standard SD UHS-I or higher.

This 'test' firmware has rendered all 4 cameras I have completely unusable. The install claimed success but shut down instead of getting on with the job & when restarted went back to the start of the update process. I had to click 'no' for it to move on & start recording but in only 10 minutes they were screaming about Fatal Errors & Low Speed Card & even Invalid Card. The cameras were already having problems with the SD cards (128Gb which prior research showed to only come in high speed) - first in the B slots, sometimes after several hours of working happily, then while writing over the A slot card. The computer can find nothing amiss with any of the cards (SanDisk from as reputable a source as is possible these days), re-formatting them actually made the B slot issues worse.
I have spent over two months researching cameras, SD cards & suppliers, waiting for stock to come in & get sent out to me, working around busy schedules to get them hard-wired with special brackets to hold them (sticky pads are useless above 30C) & over a grand later I have BUPKUSS! They came from a chinese warehouse & I know from past attempts with other electronics that China is a one-way system; delivery companies don't want to even know about returns to China!
For a little more money I could've got a pair of dual channel cams from a supplier in my own country with a proper warranty but I didn't because I needed decent recording time and the Mini was the only one that took big enough cards.

After giving up on my 0806 heap of junk I decided to install Firmware Oct 2014 with one card in the B slot. The card is not full so I don't know if it will overwrite previous files. The unit seems to be working perfectly. The only difference I noticed is that the screen is continuously blank ,but you can see the picture if you hold in the end button. No picture is no problem as all you need is set and forget as long as the recordings are there when needed.I'm glad I didn't dump it now.

My mini 806 won't auto start with the SD card inserted after it has been shutdown. On the next power on screen is frozen the red led is on and the menu is not accessibele after a hard reset (pressing on/off button for 20 sec it will work again until the nekt power off/on
If no SD card is installed auto start/stop will work correctly.
Tested with several SD card but don't get it to work. Has someone any idea's what happening.

Oh what an unholy mess I seem to have bought into...! Like someone else above I did basic research and decided this cam was the best choice for me. Had I known about this blog, and the dashcam forums linked to above, I never would have purchased this one. Right now I'm just glad I didn't buy two of them, as I originally intended to do so I could put one in my wife's vehicle too.

Well, at least I already have plenty of LiPos to swap if the battery dies, since one of my RC quadcoptors (actually a hexcopter) uses that size. I wonder if I can install a socket to make it easier? Maybe even an external battery attached with some hook & loop tape on the mount? Maybe buy the non-GPS mount and put a LiPo in there with a short wire lead to a socket on the camera? I shall have to get out my tools and experiment...

It sounds like you have a fake 128 Gb card. There's enough of them out there, Chinese counterfeits that are actually much smaller cards manipulated to report themselves as much bigger, then put into fake shells.

DASHCAM FIRMWARE SUMMARY by Barry
03/11/2016 1:56am

I work in IT and am not affiliated with the makers of this dashcam. Here is a summary so far of what I have ascertained in the aim of helping fellow 0806 users and also the makers of this product;

- ALL of the firmware through 2015 and the Jan 2016 update have had MAJOR issues, some of these are;
- Jan.04.2016, dashcam does not turn on at all when 12v is active in-car,
- May.12.2015, dashcam once full does not auto-delete; once card is full it does not record any more,
- JAN.16.2015 and JAN.28.2015 turn audio recording off (this is bad)
- I have since down-graded to DEC.29.2014, this is as far as I can tell the best last firmware (ie, the final firmware from 2014). audio is ok, and it records video ok, though I will need some time in the car to test if the car loops ok once full (if not the only option will be firmware before this in 2014). so thus far this is the last best firmware I can tell.
- ppl keep mentioning the battery is useless. yes, it is. that's to be expected from such a small device from wherever it comes from (I guess Russia or thereabouts). don't expect the battery to last anywhere beyond about 10 seconds. it's of no issue, you should rely on activation when your car is on (12v charge) and then if you want to change settings (connect via AC), and if you want to view video connect via USB to your pc. you get what you pay for, in this case the video and audio are actually good. batteries can come from anywhere, so don't expect some sort of high-grade lithium designed by NASA.
- time. easiest way to get the time to be correct is to enable the GPS logging (at least), this will mean the satellite will correct the time whenever it connects. remember to set your timezone. if you're in a daylight savings timezone, set it another region forward (eg, from +10 to +11), and let the GPS auto set the time accordingly. remember to set back to, in this example +10 once daylight savings ends.
- video, set it to the highest res available. this gives the best single-frame detail when paused so you can see a number-plate registration for example. at night, if you have LED or xenon headlights, don't expect to see number plates as the reflection is too bright from these newer headlights. instead, you can read out the registration audibly (where required) so that the microphone on the camera picks it up.
- consider not using the speed stamping (do you really want the police or insurance agency to see your speed when you need to hand them over the footage?).
- I don't know what the manufacturer was doing in 2015 and 2016, but I can only assume they've been drinking way too much vodka as a result of increased product sales since 2014. these firmware updates are really Amateur Hour at its finest. they're released sometimes without noting what changes have been made. but most concerning of all, no thorough or meaningful testing is done. this is evidenced by the fact that they're more than happy to hear of feedback from firmware releases with no mention of a BETA in sight. dear manufacturer, put the vodka away, create a BETA section on your website and have at least 10 people in a formal testing team thoroughly test video, audio, card switching, card looping once full, etc (ie, a checklist). give your beta crew some sort of incentive, like a free upgrade to the next model for their time. This. Testing. Is. Critical. Also a lot of frustrated commentators are going unanswered, you should at least have a section at the top of the comments where you can update manufacturer feedback as an ongoing concern.
- manufacturer, have someone proof read your English before you post on this site. seriously. we understand you, but it really needs to be as good as it could be.

All, feel free to copy and paste these comments to the next firmware release comments that fall short of expectations!

well, wouldn't you know it. two weeks later and the battery has crapped out so now the device can't turn on and function in the car. why was this designed so that it cannot work exclusively on 12v from the car? why is the battery, which bizarrely is still needed even on 12v power, not able to be easily switched out seeing that it now appears to be a critical component? people; do. not. buy. this camera. get a brandname something else cam.

This thing Pisses me off! When I need it the most it failed. Wife and i have the same unit and same issues constantly, will not loop to A card and has bad records, constantly beeping and shutting off, beeping super fast and locked out ridiculous. We had an illegal non English speaking man purposely run out in front of the car and now we have no proof because the damn camera never works when its supposed to. this should be a set and forget till you need it camera and I'm constantly having to fidget with it. The main issue is the cards. First, the thing doesn't recognize card A. this should be the card it starts with when you have fresh formatted cards, Two it starts on B card when full it beeps stops recording, very rarely does it record to A car every time i check it its on B card. Firmware install. if i put the firmware to removable disk D which is B then restart camera it asks if i want to update firmware. If i put the firmware in removable disk E which is A and restart camera, it does not recognize the update, i have to go to choose card, remove auto and select A card, turn of turn on then it will ask to update firmware. Ive even tried recording with one card and still fails to re loop by itself, it beeps shuts off have to turn on then it records over. Its got to be fixed, my old ladies pissed for blowing money on these cameras not to mention the cost of quality sd cards. i have to live with her the programmers don't. Get the shit fixed, or hand over programming to people who care. I think we should open a class action law suite, and negative reviews to newer mini camera products until those of us that bought the mini 0806 get helped, fixed, or reimbursed. Just Fix It. Im going to try Barrys advice and go way back to older firmware.

See the link that Hans supplied above for changing the battery. It seems many of these have bad LiPo batteries in them (probably from excessive discharge below the voltage at which a LiPo can be recovered) and the solution is to replace the battery. You'll need some electronic skill, and some decent soldering tools (not that 150 watt gun you got at the yard sale) to replace it, but it can be done.

it's unacceptable. there is no easy way for a normal person to change the battery. additionally, it should have been designed so that it does not rely on the battery to operate, but purely 12v from the car (or usb via pc). without a simple 'eject the battery and replace with another' we're left to soldering and trying to source some type of unknown battery from ebay. all the time without breaking any component or the casing while doing so. what. a. joke.

I have been using this (Mini0806) for 2 weeks and the following are the problems I am facing with a hardwire setup to my OBD.
1) The camera doesn't turn off even I have turn of my car. The camera is running all the time. (I have turn off the parking guard too.)
2) It has a max recording time of around 40+mins and the beep starts until I turn of the camera manually.

I hope you can rectify the loop recording to a max of 4GB as it would deceive the purpose of having a 128GB card when an error message appears every 40+mins. I bought this camera because it was suppose to record at least a 10hours drive.

Reply
04/19/2016 2:51pm

1) Propably OBD port is powered all the time. It is diagnostic port after all...
2) Check if you SD card is genuine. Some cards are fake and only pretend to be 128, 64 or 32gb while they store less. I've had this problem with cheaper USB flash drives - bought as 16gb, windows also sees it as 16gb, but you can actually store only 4gb and all the rest is lost.

It was my fault as I set the Loop to OFF so it will only record a maximum of approx 4GB of video content. I have changed the setting to 5mins LOOP and it has been recording nonstop since. I am running a 128GB card and I can record approx 12hrs of video on 1080.

The only one problem is that the camera still doesn't turn off by itself when I turn off the car. I have to remember to turn of the camera manually now. It gets really hot if I forgets to turn of the camera.

Peter

I have this problem as well. I installed a device that cuts power to camera when voltage (on car battery) is below threshold.

It don't work as intended though. The problem is that the camera starts beeping with an error after about 2-3 hours recording time, and i then have to reset, and setup again... NOT optimal!

My solution is to remember to turn off camera when you shut off engine. The camera turns on by itself when engine start. I think thats because the starter motor draws all power from battery thereby triggering an off event in my threshold-device and then an off/on event in camera, forcing it to start recording. It kinda works ok.

It might be setting of your recording. I set the LOOP to OFF. I have been able to record without any problem since. The only problem I am having is the auto shut down when I turn off the car. Guess I have to do what you do, manually turn off the device.

I bought the camera few months ago and I'm still with the original firmware. I don't know if this is done in the newer versions so I'll give you my suggestion for new feature - can you add a automatic time change when standard / summer time change? Because today I needed a clip from the camera and the time in the clip was with one hour difference from the real time.

I received an 0806 today (oyoyo) from an ebay seller in the UK.
It seems to be working OK. It actually came pre-installed with firmware version 0806 FW 20160317 V1.0
It differs from the menu descriptions in the supplied manual, but seems to be the same as the menus I've seen mentioned in year old review videos. Anyone have any ideas what's new in it?
Going to use it for a week with a very suspicious eye and send it back at the first sign of any issues. Been reading far too many reports of unreliability all over the web. Real shame as it does seem like it would be a great bit of kit and ticks all my boxes other than the reliability.

The only micro cards that I found to work without getting an error message are Samsung class 6. (16 or 32mb). Neither of my 2 0806 camera switch from card A to B, nut only records to card B. You can record for 9 hours on the 32mb card so it really has not been an issue, but it would be nice to use 2 cards for longer recording time. However, I am afraid to update to the last firmware after reading that it will cause more problems. It appears that whoever makes the Mini 0806 doesn't know how to fix this issue.

The error I receive is "Frgmt error need format". So I suspect fragmentation is caused by using 1 minute videos. I switched to 5 minutes and reformated card. And used Motion Detect to Medium (on high is impossible to stop recording), so I save every day a few GB on card.

If I'm not mistaken there is a correlation between not switching cards during recording and lack of option "Auto" when choosing cards in "Video Playback" and "Photo Viewer". When in "Video Playback" I'll choose "Card A Only" camera records only on card A, the same when card B is marked.
Can any developer input "Auto" mode there to see if it'll record on both cards, please?

I have 9 of these spread across three different vehicles. I was having random shutdowns due to write errors on the cards (64GB Sandisks). About once every few weeks a given camera would simply shut down (only blue light) and not record. I would format the card in the camera, and the problem would go away for another few weeks.

About 6 weeks ago, I replaced all of the cards with some cheap Lexar 32gb (also class 10) cards. I have not had a SINGLE shut down on any camera since then.

I also found that one of my cameras had a failed battery. It would shut off instantly the moment the power was unplugged from the USB port. The 403020 battery was available from a US seller on Amazon (for a premium price of USD15), and after about 10 min of (dis)assembly, it was working fine.

A couple of other things that help:

1) Power the camera DIRECTLY from the USB port on the camera body. It will still back feed the mount, and power the GPS. But powering the camera through the mount may result in power issues since the retractable pins develop conductivity issues (corrosion, looser fit over time) that may cause the camera to randomly shut down.

2) Use only the original charger/converter (12V to 5V), or one that you have VERIFIED can produce at least 1A of 5V power. Many cheaper USB adapters are stamped with 1A or more, but actually put out much less current.

3) If you hardwire the camera, make sure you use the thickest (lowest gauge) cable between the 5VDC power supply and the camera to avoid voltage drop. 5VDC is very susceptible to voltage drop, which will also cause the camera to become unstable.

4) If your camera has randomly shut down, format the card in the camera to get rid of the error. Once an error exists on the card, the camera will shut down every time it hits that spot. Formatting it cleans the corruption.

@jan - that is not necessarily consistent. I have four connected to a single power converter (12VDC to 5VDC @ 10A) with a high resolution volt and ammeter displaying the load of the four combined cameras. During the day, while driving (lots of changing pixels), displays on, with GPS and sound recording, I pull a combined 2.5A. The same four, under the same scenario, while not driving (static image), will pull about 1.75A. At night, it drops to about 1.6A.

Keep in mind that as the voltage at the camera drops due to the length of the USB cable, the amperage will increase as well. As the cable heats up, that too will increase current/drop voltage.

My point is, there are many variables that will cause the camera to quickly surpass the true current capacity of the cheap power adapters sold as 1A capable. The cheaper power adapters may also not regulate the 5VDC as cleanly, which can result in glitches.

I'm not trying to make excuses for a poorly designed camera. I'm only relaying how I've had my 9 cameras set up, and I am very happy with all of them with the way I have them configured.

I have 2 x 64 GB Samsung SD Cards and activate the loop - 3 min recording mode.

Do you have this issue?

I had completely given up on my 0806 and bought 2 different dash cams.I saw May2006 updates and thought I'd give it one more chance.I was using 64gb top quality Sandisc cards and had the usual problems. I changed the cards to 32gb Samsung and in 3 weeks it hasn't missed a beat and is working perfectly. The only thing I don't know is if it will change to Card B when the A card is full. They say this problem is fixed so we'll wait and see.If not 1 card working correctly will do me.

Using this Firmware facing diffuclties:
= Set-up not accessible as discribed in manual;
= Set-up not accesible when both SD-cards are in place. I have to remove both cards to get access to Set-up;
= Internal battery emty after a minute ore two;
= While placed in car very frequently I get warning "INVALID" SD-card.
